What is my purpose?
What is my purpose? I've always been asking that question for years. I've always thought, what am I suppose to do with my life? I think that I have an idea of what my purpose is. This question has been more on my mind lately because we are graduating soon, and we are suppose to have everything figured out so we are ready for college and life after college. I’m not saying I’m ready for the future; I have an idea of what I’m going to do in the near future.  I've been fortunate to grow up with older siblings, because I have learned a little of what you could do with your future. My very first purpose is to graduate from high school and I hope that’s everyone else’s first purpose in life. For years I've been changing what my purpose is but now and days I have a legitimate idea of what I’m going to do. I feel like I’m here to make a difference in somebody’s life, and that brings me to what I want to do in college.
My purpose is to go college. I’m going to a two year college in Grand Island to get my general classes done for a cheaper price, and to save money so when I’m prepared to move to Omaha I have everything in place. When I’m in Omaha I will attend the University of Nebraska Omaha, where I want to get a degree in secondary education teach history. But if I don’t go to Omaha I think that I will go to the University of Nebraska Kearney. I want to coach baseball as well, I know what you’re saying baseball? Yes baseball. I played baseball in Phillips for a couple of years and I had the time of my life playing baseball. Its America’s past time one of the greatest sports out there. Plus if you have a good coach it’s even better.
I think that I’m going to try to stay in Omaha and teach or coach baseball somewhere but if I can’t then I want to stay around Nebraska and teach history in a middle school or a high school where I also want to coach baseball. Where I really want to go teach is back in California I feel like that would be a huge experience. I feel that teaching is my purpose because I want to make a difference in a kid’s life; I want to be able to change a kid’s outlook on things. I feel that there are a lot of good teachers who makes a difference in a student’s life, but there are some teachers out there who honestly shouldn't teach. There are teachers out there who could care less for their students; they just say as long as they pass their class they aren't there problem anymore. That just bugs me. I want to teach because there are kids out there who have potential to do great things, but they don’t have the support system from anybody whether it’s their parents, friends, or teachers. I see some teachers in our school and I say yes, that’s exactly who I want to be, they seem so happy teaching kid’s and that makes me want to teach even more.
Another purpose of mine is to have kids and be married. I want to have a big family like mine; I had so much fun growing up with six other siblings. I don’t see myself only having like one or two kids it would be to weird for me. Another purpose of mine that most people don’t know is that I want to adopt a kid or kids. I know, you’re probably wondering why I want to do this. Well its cause my mom use to tell me stories of kids who she use to help that didn’t have their parents for various reasons, and they had such a hard life and that they are getting in trouble because they don’t have parents to care about them. This goes back to me wanting to change a kid’s life; I feel that if I adopt a kid that I would be making the biggest difference in a kid’s life.
Well now you know what I want to do with my future, I’m not saying it’s going to be this way because we don’t really know how our future is going to end up but that’s why they call it the future.

  1. Darren,

That would be amazing if you went to California to teach. I don't know if I could teach in California! I admire you for wanting to make a difference. I also think you'd do great with adopting a child. There are a lot of kids who need adopting! Good for you!
